Mount Buller day trip from Melbourne

Mount Buller is Victoria's most accessible alpine resort, north-east of Melbourne in the High Country. It is a long day by road, which is exactly why many people would rather not drive it themselves, particularly in winter.

North-east of Melbourne, roughly 240 kilometres each way.

Places you can include

Choose the ones you want. We build the day around your list, drive you to each and wait while you visit. Entry tickets are yours to book.

  • Mount Buller village

The resort itself, at the top of the mountain road.

  • Mansfield

The last full town before the climb; a common stop on the way.

  • Merrijig and the Delatite valley

    The approach through the foothills.

Worth knowing before you book

  • In the declared snow season a resort entry fee applies per vehicle and wheel chains may be required by law, whatever the weather looks like from Melbourne. Both are checked and included in your written quote when they apply.
  • Snow is weather, so nobody can promise it. What we can do is get you there and back without you fitting chains or looking for parking.
  • Lift passes, lessons and equipment hire are booked by you directly with the resort.
  • Outside winter the mountain is open for walking and mountain biking, and the road is an easier drive.

Who this suits: Groups wanting a snow day without hiring a car, fitting chains or driving a mountain road in poor conditions. It is a long day in the vehicle, which is a lot to ask of a toddler.

From $999 for the whole vehicle

Starting rates for the private group, up to 4 guests. Longer reserved time, larger parties, added regions and peak dates are quoted higher, and the written total is confirmed after the route, vehicle fit and availability are checked.
