It is one of the strongest options near Melbourne for school-age children, because almost everything on the site is something to do rather than something to read.
Panning for gold in the creek is the part that holds attention longest, and children are allowed to keep whatever they find. Bring shoes that are allowed to get wet and muddy, because they will.
The site is large and mostly unsealed, with slopes. That is easy for a seven-year-old and hard work with a pram.
